Third place at the AOCC

After 4 days and 5 tough games St Kilda took the 3rd place at the Australian Open Club Championship.

The first game was a real fight against West Adelaide Handball Club. St Kilda took the best start with a 3 goal lead (12-9) at the 20th minute. But West Adelaide came back taking advantage of a few mistake from our side in attack ending the first half on a 6-0.

The boys even trailed by 6 goals with just over 15 minutes to go. But with a few second waves and some excellent goals from the wings, St Kilda managed to come back and draw with 5 minutes to go.

Unfortunately, West Adelaide scored at the buzzer to take the win 27-26.

The second game was a bit easier against a young and tired Wolves team. The game finished on a 32-20 for the boys.

The first game of the main round was a rematch of the last 2 finals of the Oceania Championship between St Kilda and Sydney Uni. It was already a must-win game for St Kilda and they pushed the favourite all the way leading 8-6 at half time.

It was a low scoring game all the way with 2 great defences. Unfortunately, the last attack from St Kilda was unsuccessful and Sydney Uni took the win 18-17.

The last game of the main round was of the same caliber but St Kilda took the win 19-18 against UTS.

The third place game was a rematch of Saturday game against UTS. St Kilda managing an easy win 37-16 against a tired UTS side.
